Cheryl is a forever learner. She graduated from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH in 1991 with a Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design, Photography and Psychology. She then attended and graduated from University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1998 with a Master of Social Work.
Since, Cheryl has worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years as a medical social worker. She has worked in long term care, assisted living, hospice, hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehab, dialysis, and mental health care facilities.
In 2009, Cheryl had the opportunity to study with Joni Eareckson Tada at the Joni and Friends International Disability Center where she was awarded a certificate in disability ministry.
In 2011, Cheryl was awarded the 4th highest honor a civilian can receive – The Commanders Award for Public Service by the United States Army.
She returned to graduate school attending Saint Mary of-the-Woods College in in Terre Haute Indiana. She received a Master of Arts in Art Therapy in 2017. She has received her provisional board certification through the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).
Cheryl works with The Daring Way, based on the research of Brené Brown. She will complete the Certified Daring Way Facilitator certification in early 2018.
Cheryl is owner and psychotherapist of Beauty for Ashes Counseling, LLC. She is licensed to practice clinical social work independently in SC, NC and GA. She is a clinical supervisor for master level social workers in NC and SC.
Cheryl enjoys writing, illustrating, painting, photography and anything else that sets her free creatively. Cheryl has been involved with many publication projects including magazine publications, several published books and some manuscripts pending print.
She, her husband Jeff along with their three amazing kids, Job, Gabriella, and Elijah-Luke live on Paris Mountain in Greenville, SC.
